Bittersweet Has Never Been More True

The last month or so has been a strange mixture of surprise, sadness, and hopeful excitement. I have been working with Blue Parabola for the last several years, and without a doubt, it has been an absolute blast. Not only have I gotten to be involved in the community and educating others as my job, but I’ve gotten to work with some amazing people throughout the years. The blame for this amazing trip lies squarely with Johanna Cherry, who convinced me to attend my first ever PHP conference (php|works in Atlanta) and Paul Reinheimer, who hired me the first time we met at said conference. (Momentary insanity or brilliant coup? I like to think it was a little of both.)

So when I heard that Blue Parabola was going to be sold, I was instantly concerned. I don’t just work for php|architect, I love php|architect. I don’t trust it with just anyone. (My concerns were unnecessary, of course, because I’m not the only one here who loves php|architect.) I am so happy that the Musketeers (you may remember how much fun I had with them on mojoLive) are taking over, and I am also excited to announce that I will be staying on with the Musketeers – so if you were hoping this meant a new editor for the magazine, you are out of luck.

I started this out with the word bittersweet, though, because despite my excitement, this sale does mean changes for Blue Parabola, and the biggest of those will be that I won’t be working with Marco Tabini, Arbi Arzoumani, Emanuela Corso, and Keith Casey every day anymore, and that is something that I have really gotten used to after all these years. I hope that there will be many projects in the future that bring us back together, and if you ever need someone to nag you to get something done, you know I’ll always be there for you.

Thanks to Blue Parabola for all they have done for me and for the PHP community at large, and I can’t wait to see where things go with the Musketeers at the helm.
